Sometimes the ad guys get it right! Sad but true, as a wife and mom that is passionate about photography there are so many occasions that I just have to be in the moment without the camera. This is a real challenge and I forced myself in the year of 2009 to leave my camera behind that year on most family vacations so that I could be in the moment more with my kids and husband. Rather than being a spectator behind the lens, I splashed in the sea, rode the rides, pushed the swing and built the sandcastles. Sometimes our most precious memories are not the ones that can be captured on file through a camera but the ones that live embedded in our minds, where a photograph will never do it justice. “Put the camera down” may sound like a strange goal for a photographer, but is one I do hold myself accountable to. Like anything in life, sometimes too much of a good thing, is just that.
